Chanting mantra is an important part of a complete yoga practice. In most of our classes, we generally chant at least one of the following mantras:
Asatoma Mantra:
Asatoma Sad Gamaya
Tamasoma Jyotir Gamaya
Mrityorma Amritam Gamaya
Meaning:
Lead me from the unreal to the real
Lead me from darkness to light
Lead me from time-bound consciousness;
to a timeless state of Being.

Guru Mantra:
Guru Brahma Guru Vishnu
Guru Devo Maheswara
Guru Saaksaat Param Brahma
Tasmai Shri Guruve Namaha
Meaning:
Guru (teacher) is Brahma (who plants the qualities of goodness)
Guru is Vishnu (Who nurtures and fosters the qualities of goodness)
Guru is Maheswara - Shiva (Who weeds out the bad quality)
Guru is Supreme Brahman itself
I bow unto that Guru
