Melissa is a Massage Therapist, Certified Level II Amrit Yoga Instructor, and Certified Second Degree Usui Reiki Practitioner, as well as Co-Owner of Santosha Yoga Studio.  She studied massage therapy in California under Dr. Thomas Ahern, who is a doctor of Alternative Medicine and Usui Reiki Master/Teacher.  Her massage training with Dr. Ahern incorporated many healing modalities including Shiatsu, Reflexology, Kinesiology, Cranio-sacral therapy, and Native American Hot Stone Therapy.  She is also pre-natal certified, as well as infant massage certified.  She has almost 900 hours of training in massage therapy.  After attending Ahern’s Massage School in 2003, Melissa went on to study Amrit Yoga and received her Certification as a Level I yoga instructor in 2004 and Level II in 2010. 

Melissa has practiced massage in Rhode Island since 2003, working for the majority of those years with Chiropractors.  Working closely with two different chiropractors for a total of almost five years has enabled Melissa to develop a strong understanding of the body, and how to help her clients find relief from injury and pain.

Melissa has been described as caring and intuitive.  Her approach to the body is with compassion, personalized attention, and genuine loving care.  She has a beautiful, relaxing, and quiet treatment room with soft lighting, soothing music, heated massage table, and soft linens.
