Stacy Cristo

Biography

Stacy Cristo first took interest in art as a therapeutic medium when she was an undergraduate studying Printmaking at Washington University in St. Louis.  She earned her BFA from that institution, experiencing firsthand the healing power of exploring and reclaiming her own life in the creative process.  After working in the community collaborating as an artist with social service agencies to bridge art and healing, Stacy continued on to graduate school to study Expressive Therapy with a focus in Art Therapy and Mental Health Counseling.  It is at Lesley and in the Cambridge Community that she discovered her love for movement, particularly Authentic Movement and Outdoor Improvisational Movement.  In this workshop, Stacy chose to bring together these two passions.

Stacy Cristo received her Master of Arts in Expressive Therapies and Mental Health Counseling from Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 2002.  She studied the practice of Existential Psychotherapy with Robert Fox, LICSW, founder of the Institute of Existential Psychotherapy in Newton, Massachusetts.  Stacy is influenced by Buddhist teachings and a holistic conception of wellness: she recognizes the roundness of being human, including the spiritual, emotional, physical, and behavioral dimensions of health.  Stacy has practiced various forms of Yoga since 1998.  She has benefited from acupuncture treatment, and has facilitated and participated in the contemplative practice of Authentic Movement, both since 2000.  All of this brings her to the beautiful space of Santosha Yoga Center where Stacy practices as a holistic psychotherapist.  Stacy accepts BCBSRI and credit cards for payment of services.

Stacy Cristo, LMHC is a holistic psychotherapist practicing at Santosha Yoga Studio & Holistic Center.  She has studied various forms of yoga since 1998 and Authentic Movement since 2000.  She has also sought the support of acupuncture and Chinese herbs for healing.  Through Stacy’s personal healing and professional studies and practice she has learned the power of using psychotherapy with yoga and /or other healing modalities for deeper inner support and growth.  Stacy offers a free 30 minute consultation that can be used to meet her and to explore if therapy would be a useful option at this point in your life.  Stacy has been described as being comfortable to work with and insightful.  She has the ability to deliver loving-kindness while also encouraging hard work in developing your inner-witness: an act that assists you in becoming more responsible for yourself and in your life which in turn is a powerful and boundless existence.  To know oneself is to free oneself!  Stacy accepts Blue Cross & Blue Shield and credit cards.
