Ayurvedic Wellness Counseling
Ayurveda is an ancient healing science originating in India. Translated as “Life Knowledge”, it is literally the science of living. Ayurvedic healing begins with creating balance in body, mind and spirit followed by a program to maintain that balance. Ayurveda is a holistic approach to living well.
Western approaches to nutrition and wellness, however, focus on maintaining health status and treating disease.
Ayurveda and Holistic Nutrition focus of the maintenance of health and the prevention of disease. We will assess not only what you eat, but how you eat. We will look at lifestyle factors that contribute to and/or take away from your overall health. We will also analyze any pertinent information gathered by traditional “Western” nutritional assessment such as height, weight, food intake, and health history. All of these factors are important because each has a direct impact on the digestion and assimilation of nutrients; and those nutrients are the building blocks for everything in your body.
By combining Eastern and Western approaches to wellness, I am in a unique position to provide you with a comprehensive and inclusive assessment of your health status, and I have the unique combination of skills and techniques to guide you to a state of health.
What to Expect:
Your consultation sessions will be guided by your needs and intentions, including assisting you in developing those intentions and goals. The initial consultation will begin with the completion of simple forms about your health. An Ayurvedic assessment will be conducted; food intake history, physical activity assessment, and anthropometric measurements (height, weight, etc.) may also be performed. The information gained from these assessments will be used to provide recommendations and help you to formulate an action plan to set your intentions into action.
Your initial consultation will be one hour, and can be scheduled on-line. Follow-up sessions may be ½ hour to one hour, depending on the need, and will be discussed during your appointment.
$75 per session
