What is Kirtan?
Kirtan is a call-and-response style chanting event. Jagdish and Shambhu will use their own voices and musical instruments including the harmonium, drums, and other percussion to recite mantras (songs) that express loving devotion (bhakti). As you feel the music, you may feel drawn to dance or move, or you may simply sit and receive. We encourage you to actively participate to the extent you feel comfortable – adding your voice to the group energy throughout the evening, especially when you hear the call “bolo,” a signal to us in the group to chant loudly & repeat back our part. Kirtan is most of all a chance for our community to come together in the shared expression of love & devotion for the light within.
Santosha & Anahata & Kripalu Lineage Reunion

We are inviting all who are drawn to the Lineage of Light through Swami Kripalu, Gurudev Amrit Desai, Kamini, and Santosha Yoga to join this community reunion and celebration of these teachings! Invite your friends & carpool. Or book yourself a nearby Air BnB and make it into a retreat & reunion.

For over 30 years Kamini has created unique body of teachings combining the ancient wisdom of yoga with modern psychology.

She is now the Founder and Director of I AM Education featuring advanced studies and trainings to aid personal development. Kamini is the developer of the I AM Yoga Nidra app and author of the source text; Yoga Nidra: The Art of Transformational Sleep.

Jagdish has been a beloved part of the Santosha, Anahata, and Amrit Yoga community for decades.
Jagdish Tom Buckland is a devotee of his Guruji Yogi Amrit Desai. After his years of immersion in the teachings of Amrit Yoga Amritji honored Jagdish with the title of Naad Brahm (Sound of the Absolute) for his devotion to a personal practice of Nada Yoga the yoga of sound. Jagdish was drawn to the vibrational impact of mantra and kirtan through the chanting of Amritji, Bapuji Swami Kripalvanandji and Bhagavan Das who he’s also had the blessing of assisting numerous times over the years. It has been a transformational practice for him and whenever he chants he hopes it can be that for you as well.

Shambhu is the one who planted the seed for this event! We are so grateful for his enthusiasm and devotion.
From the Ashrams of India, to the Pueblos of Taos, the banks of the Shipra to the Susquehanna, Acharya Shambhu Anand is a living servant of Yoga in the Pashupati Lakulish Lineage of Swami Sri Kripalvanandaji. He was invited to participate in the International Yoga Conference held during the Simhastha Kumbh Mela in Ujain, and again invited to Allahabad to participate in the ancient Vedic Rudra Yaga ceremony during the Ardha Kumbh Mela. Holding the ghee lamp for arti, he shines the light of Yoga for the world, continuously seeking truth.
He sits on the Board of Directors of the Kripalvananda Yoga Institute as historian, working to preserve the teachings of Swami Kripalu in Sumneytown Pa. He is a senior student of the last living Yoga Grand Master, Yogi Amrit Desai and serves as a senior teacher and Emissary Ambassador to the Amrit Yoga Institute in Salt Springs Fl. For 15 years he studied mantra and chanting with Bhakti Yoga Masters Sharada Devi, and Bhagavan Das. He draws upon these Lineages for kirtan.

Jaya is a Senior Teacher of the I AM Methods and former Executive Director of the Amrit Yoga Institute which she spearheaded for many years. Jaya is now a beloved member of our northeast Amrit Yoga community and we are excited and honored to have her join us with her no-nonsense approach to bringing the teachings of yoga into life.
